R-Value Homes is pleased to promote our 2022 Parade of Homes showpiece.
We cannot wait for you to take in these thoughtful features and detailed craftsmanship. You cannot help but feel the difference when standing inside an R-Value home. Nestled on two and half spacious acres, this West Michigan net-zero-ready home features our specialty, Insulated Concrete Forms. We scoured this lot for the most buildable location, ruling out some spongey spots in favor of more solid ground, and found the perfect place to nestle this four-bedroom 3.5 bathroom 3000 square foot beauty.
We brought in a massive amount of concrete in May 2021 and got to work. The details matter right from the start. R-Value Homes specializes in Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). This construction method requires much more concrete than a typical stick-built home. Featuring steel-reinforced concrete walls, these are rock-solid and uniquely energy-efficient homes.
Statement black vertical siding complements the angular and simple shed roofline. The wood panel exterior accent facade in the breezeway that connects the roomy two-car garage is the perfect contrast. French entry doors with statement glass panels unify the modern and moody exterior vibe. Second-story decks create main-level covered porches and fantastic opportunities for romantic seating in the shade.
This airtight home features highly energy-efficient triple-pane windows and serious levels of insulation. Every single R-Value home is equipped with balanced ventilation, and this is no exception. We provide fresh, healthy air without the harmful chemicals, dust, and allergens that typical homes are unable to remove.
Energy Star™ appliances and fixtures reduce energy use and meet modern demands. This home also features a greywater heat exchanger, reusing the heat that literally goes down your drain.
Wax finish concrete floors on the main level are a versatile and attractive option made easier by ICF. Large triple pane picture windows on the first floor capture this stunning view as the seasons roll by. This spacious central living room features fun and functional built-ins. Shelves and cabinets bookend a flush electric fireplace and heater. One bookcase is a even a door to a hidden mechanical room! This private and playful space is one of our favorite features. Primary floor hallway storage leaves everything neat and organized, no matter the size of the stash.
Our kitchen pass-through to an outside bar was a fan favorite for seamless indoor/outdoor entertaining. This L-shaped kitchen with an island features gold handles and gold statement pendulum lights. Recessed lighting offers plenty of options to keep the space bright or set a romantic mood. Rich dark wood cabinets below and crisp white shaker cabinets above create a rich contrast and ample storage for decor.
Clean white quartz countertops and a deep apron-front kitchen sink present a pristine workspace for any culinary task. A glass front cabinet and floating corner shelves allow for curated display. The induction cooktop gives this homeowner the control and power of gas, without the gas bill!
We also included a convenient pot filler for water exactly where it is needed. Kitchen-specific ventilation addresses moisture and odor while keeping the home air-tight and comfortable.
Mudroom with trendy teal cabinets and a built-in bench ensures that the dirt and clutter of daily life stay where they belong. Around the corner, we’ve built the laundry station of legends, making use of a suite of white shaker cabinets with sleek brass pulls for all your cleaning products and pet supplies. This space also functions as a home office.
Stay hydrated with ease! Help the kids help themselves! A water fountain offers a quick gulp or a water bottle refill, reducing plastic use in your daily routine.
Accessible rooms make aging in place easy if a walker or wheelchair becomes necessary. The architect, Eric Hughes from Image Design, infused this home with his vision and common sense. He designed the kitchen and main floor bathrooms to accommodate a wheelchair’s turning radius, and the doors are three feet wide. We also raised outlets for more convenient reach and lowered the microwave to a more central point for the same reason.
This owners’ suite bathroom features a heated floor and moody hexagonal mosaic tile. We continued the floor tile into this barrier-free walk-in shower. Built-ins with glass shelves provide a stylish room for shower essentials. We love the crisp black and white palette, luxe gold faucets and fixtures, and floating double vanity.
One upstairs bathroom includes similar bathroom features. This upstairs walk-in shower features white ceramic tile and a playful mosaic tile floor. The floating double vanity with elegant square sinks and moody pendulum lights above each area set the tone and provide continuity throughout the home. A third upstairs bathroom features a luxurious bathtub and shower, a private toilet water closet, and a spacious double vanity for storage, privacy, and plenty of space to get ready without bumping elbows.
Included in this owners’ bedroom suite, you’ll find a walk-in closet with masterful built-ins to organize even the most expansive ensemble. Featuring clerestory windows to let in the natural light and preserve privacy, this closet space is its own small shrine. Not every closet is quite as divine, but we’ve folded in thoughtful built-ins, storage, and organization solutions to all of the bedroom closets in this home.
Amanda Wildman of TruMedia created excellent sound and security systems in this home and incredibly precise lighting and tech control. There are no banks of switches in this home. Buttons are reprogrammable so that you can operate any combination with one button and reprogram the same button to function differently at any time. Light intensity is also customizable. We currently operate the lights in this home at seventy-five percent as an energy-saving feature.
We love participating in the Parade of Homes! This is a fantastic opportunity for many to stand in an ICF home for the first time. We know our results speak for themselves, and we would love the chance to prove them to you. Reach out today to connect about your West Michigan custom ICF home.
