The Beginning

R-Value Homes was founded with a vision to build homes that combined beauty, efficiency, and resilience. We began as a subcontractor specializing in Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) installation, delivering innovative solutions for local builders.

Expanding into Custom Homebuilding

A decade later, we built our first turn-key ICF home, from planning to painting; marking our transition from subcontractor to full-service custom home builder. This milestone allowed us to tailor the entire home to maximise the many strengths of ICF, applying our unmatched expertise to running electrical, hanging cabinets, installing siding, and much more.

Transition to Design-Build

Recognizing the need for a seamless process, we fully transitioned to a design-build model. This shift allowed us to better serve our clients by integrating design and construction under one roof, ensuring projects are streamlined and cohesive.

Meet the Team

Jacob Vierzen

Owner, sales, specification development, estimating, ICF installation

Jake founded R-Value Homes in 2004. He is responsible for preconstruction, from sales through estimating; as well as ICF installation.

Furthermore, Jake continues to refine the systems and processes that ensure each client is more than pleased with their home. His strengths are attention to detail and clear communication.

Harold Bell

Project Manager: scheduling, quality control, problem solving, warranty, Trade Partner relationships

Harold has been with the R-Value Homes team since 2021. He manages projects from permits to completion. He coordinates the schedule and performs quality control inspections.

Harold ensures each home is completed to specifications, in a timely and efficient manner. He excels at organization and client communication.

Harold's four decades of building experience are a huge asset for our clients. We are grateful to have him on the team!

Allyson Quinones

Office Manager: administration, accounts payable & receivable, draws, inventory

Allyson has been working as R-Value's office manager since 2021. Her responsibilities include assembling the monthly draws, paying our Trade Partners, general accounting, insurance, and keeping all paperwork in order.

While most of Allyson's work is behind the scenes, her diligent work allows the entire R-Value team to be more productive.

Allyson strives to perform every task with the same attention to detail we put into each of the homes we build. We're blessed to have her on the team!

Megan TenHaaf

Marketing Manager: social media, publications, events

Megan came on board in 2022. You may see her on your project site now and then taking pictures or shooting a quick video. Her eye for great design and ability to communicate our message is an asset to the entire team!

Our Design-Build Process

1 | Preliminary Design
We start by exploring your vision and evaluating your lot to develop a concept design and preliminary budget. During this phase, you’ll collaborate with our design team, approve the initial concept, and gain a clear picture of what lies ahead.
2 | Design & Pricing
This phase brings your dream to life on paper. Together, we finalize your home’s layout, select fixtures and finishes, and incorporate expert feedback from specialists like HVAC and structural engineers. Once the specifications are complete, we’ll assemble and review the final project pricing.
3 | Construction & Completion
With a signed construction agreement and financing in place, we move forward with permits and construction. Throughout the build, we conduct regular onsite meetings and maintain open communication to ensure every detail aligns with your vision. Your journey concludes with a final walkthrough and move-in day.
